    Easiest technology to install and manage hands down. They also have cameras and environmental monitors so I only need to use one dashboard. I’ve looked at other fleet management solutions (Fleetmatics, Keep Truckin, Omnitracts, etc) and they don’t even compare. Customer support is a huge plus too!

    I have been using Samsara for about 8 months. great elog GREAT GPS. Woudl like for scheduled reports to be better, for example IFTA REPORTS should be able to be scheduled monthly or quarterly. Support has been good the couple of times I have needed them as well.

    Awful! Shows driving when you’re not, therefore showing a violation when it shouldn’t. Also, no known way to switch countries.

    I tested so many systems in anticipation of this mandate, and our owner was very adamant about getting something easy to use/ deploy with extensive support. Samsara is top notch, ahead of the industry and great pricing. WiFi is free. We partnered with them for 5 years and couldn’t be happier! We just deployed their dash cameras as well.

    clean interface, real time data. Reports are great, wifi hotspot is free? By far the best system we tested. Temperature monitoring and dash cameras are HUGE.

    Easy, simple, no headaches. Realtime GPS (Helicopter view is awesome)!! Mobile app for ELD is incredibly easy and my drivers love it. Customer service and support is top notch!! Can’t say enough good things about product.

    The elog portion of their service is crap, we have a fleet of otr and local drivers and have been on the system about 3 weeks. Everyday we have problems with it changing our duty status. Example today drove 5 hrs went on duty while unloading then went in sleeper for short nap while awaiting next assignment, pressed driving button to drive and after 1 minute it switched to show I had been driving for 6:43 and changed my graph so I had to pull over and do an edit to correct it. We have tried the app on iPhone and Samsung tablets same issues on both. Also if u do drop and hook during the day don’t write up anything because if u do u will not be able to do another dvir on their system till the first one is certified fixed by you. Customer service reply when asked about that issue was ” well we never thought about someone pulling multiple trailers and doing multiple dvir” I would not recommend their elog app to anyone. 0 stars

    Best system on the market, does way more than any other vendors we did trials of, best software to support the easy to install cables and monitors, definitely worth or look for anyone with a fleet, especially reefers!!!!

    I have a question. Do you have something that just does the e log? I am totally independent and I don’t need any damn tracking. I just need to be compliant with this stupid law! I just need something for the scale man.

      Hi Brent,
      Good question. A lot of ELD providers (Samsara included) have a basic ELD only plan that just does logs and not much else. However, most of those do still have some basic tracking feature included with that. But they are still very affordable, and in your situation you’d have no need to even use the tracking piece.

      If you’re looking for something that really has no tracking feature whatsoever you might consider VDO RoadLog. Their most basic unit doesn’t even have a cellular connection. It just prints off small paper logs within the truck.

    We looked at everything and they’re hands down the best system to use for ELD Compliance and making my fleet run as efficient as possible. Love the fact that I can also see what’s happening with the engines in real time. My maintenance guy know what’s going on with the trucks before they roll in to the shop. Also, they come with WiFi hotspots so there’s no need to pay for data plans anymore.

      Hi Mickey,
      Yes it does. All mandate compliant ELDs are required to have those two features. However, it is up to the carrier whether or not to enable them.

    I’ve been using Samsara eld for couple weeks now and i’m very dissapointed.
    I really like the interface and simplicity of the app, but it keeps switching duty status by itself.
    The other day i’ve selected yard movement to drop trailer at our terminal and drive around terminal building to pickup another trailer. Samsara app switched my duty status to driving without me even knowing about it.
    Suppousedly it shouldn’t switch to driving if you are in off duty, sleeper or on duty status and move your truck without going over 5mph. It doesn’t always work.
    I was fueling my truck at a truck stop and i was in on duty not driving mode. After fueling i pulled my truck forward slowly to let another truck behind me use same fuel pump and went inside to get my fuel receipt. To my surprise the app switched my status to driving even though i barerly moved.

      Having the same issues with status changing by itself. I have unplugged, reset, and still, the same issues. I set to personal convey to move in a parking lot, barely moved, it went to driving, and gave a log violation. I had to change the driving back to personal convey with a remark to prevent a log violation. This system needs to be addressed really fast. There are wayy too many comments about self changing status. Something needs to be done. Dot looks at US, not Samsara!

    Can the tracking be disabled. I am a owner operated and have only 1 truck. No need to track it.

      It’s included in the service, but you don’t need to use the tracking if you don’t want to.

    Feedback has been great from my drivers. The back end admin screen is unbelievably helpful in tracking our fleet. We’ve been very impressed with Samsara and availability to help anytime we have questions about the ELD mandate. We partnered with them for the next 3 years and couldn’t be happier

    I’m a little confused, is Samsara system considered as ELD or AOBRD? Their online certificate says it’s an AOBRD:
    My question is if I supply my current fleet with their VG gateways before the Dec mandate and then in 2 months I buy 20 more trucks, do those 20 new trucks have to be on a different system now? My understanding of the implementation timeline is that any unit equipped with AOBRD before Dec 18th 2017 is good and compliant until Dec 2019. And that after Dec 18th 2017 all new trucks in my fleet would now have to be on ELD devices unless they were traded for an old truck originally equipped with AOBRD prior to December 2017 or if they replaced a salvaged truck that was originally equipped with an AOBRD device. And that only in this scenario can the old AOBRD device be used in a new truck. Am I being misinformed? I appreciate and I’m grateful for any input in advance.

      It can be used as an AOBRD if you would like. There is an option in your user platform to switch it to AOBRD mode.

    One of the worst I’ve used by far. Been off duty parked In my driveway and it put me on drive line. No way to fix that. Apparently the truck drove around my home town of 8 square miles for 16 hours. I don’t know how it claims to be compliant when you cannot do a split sleeper.

      It can be used as both. You can switch it to AOBRD mode in your dashboard if you have the device before the 18th. Then, whenever applicable, you can switch it to ELD mode at your convenience.

    Great customer support! Have been with a few of the “big guys” (Verizon, ahem) for GPS, but Samsara has really taken care of me any time I had questions. You have no idea how big of a deal that is for a small company like mine

    Driver app very easy to use. Admin Dashboard has great features. Best part is there is no big upfront cost like w the other companies, just a monthly fee per device. so it makes it more affordable.

    I don’t think it’s the best one to use because it doesn’t have personal drive time when you are at home and want to take your truck to the shop it still take time off your clock! And the customer service is terrible because I been trying to get in touch with someone for a week and a half and on one has gotten back with me about this matter. The only reason I wanted to try this is because of the WiFi but heck I can use my hotspot. And the camera cost $900 too much!

      Hi Steve,

      You do have the ability to use “Personal Conveyance” for personal drive time for when you’re at home or for a variety of other reasons. Would absolutely suggest contacting your sales rep and ask how to enable this for your team

    The WORST system I have seen. Much needed info is missing on DOT inspection header. It will NOT transfer logs to DOT.I have the citation to back this up. It drops shipping info and trailer numbers regularly. One day I entered those 3 times and they were still not there that night. It randomly changes duty status. Once it changed me to on duty while I was driving down the road. Yesterday, right after getting the citation, it unfortunately stopped working, and when it came back up I had unassigned drive time. Upon further inspection, the drive time was on another truck. I was put on high priority call back from customer support because I was shut down at a scale house due to the violations. That was 31 hours ago. For all they care I could still be there. I was not the first driver with the same problems with Samsara. They consider it non compliant and I totally agree. By the way, the officer was very understanding and let me leave after Samsara cost me 2 hours of on duty time. Thank You Samsara!

    Everything John says it’s true, I regret getting this ELD for my three trucks. The app keeps stopping and keeps moving to on duty even after you go off duty and certify the logs, I was supposed to get a call from the support team, that was three days ago and have yet to receive the call. Two of my drivers are threatening to go elsewhere if I don’t get better ELDs. What a piece of garbage.

    The owner of the company got an email from Samsara support team today and forwarded it to me. It basically said the DOT officer was not well enough informed to get the logs to send. This officer was one who received extra training in ELD enforcement and is very knowledgeable. I HOPE that scale is open tomorrow when I go back by. I will certainly stop to let them read the email.

    Samsara changes duty status on a certified log . Had certified my log for all off duty for 34 hour restart . At the end of my first day of on duty samsara put one minute driving in the middle of my restart time. Being I had certified the log I could not edit it. So I never got my restart. Messed up my whole week.

    Terrible system. I spend half my day going over driver logs and trying to make corrections because the log shows they were driving or on duty when they were not. System keeps disconnecting

    After reviewing over 9 different apps/programs for ELD compliance, we chose Samsara due to what we though would be ease of use, affordability and options available. We went through two demo’s, watched multiple training videos and even had a life trainer available. Unfortunately we are only 3 weeks in to the use of this system and I am about to pull my hair out. I am the HR manager and mange the drivers and compliance. We have had 3 trucks now that have literally be sitting still on a lock lot but someone how their ELD shows them driving 2-3 hours. Or there was one where a driver was going through their day and half way through the day, another driver’s logs over wrote theirs. Literally the system said the driver was in Louisiana one minute and then Memphis, TN the next. This might be tolerable IF Samsara actually responded to my Case submissions or bothered to call me back. 4 cases and nothing that has helped to resolve them. Some how they thing throwing the training links back to you is supposed to fix a ghost in the system magically registering miles ran when a truck is actually sitting still. Yes the system is easy to use. Yes it is an affordable option for smaller companies but NO it does not have good customer support and it takes an act of congress to get someone to actually speak to you on the phone. Even then they usually just take your number and say they have to have a tech call you back…. which never happens.

      The exact same things keep happening to my guys!! Multiple times my drivers have called me and told me that their duty status just automatically changed… when I went in to look at their logs, I found that it had actually been logging another truck’s driving! Samsara is a headache.

    Very driver unfriendly to operate for us as drivers. I would love to have my XRS back. This system is the biggest safety distraction in my cab.

    I have had good experience with Samsara. The system is not without it glitches and support has taken more than 24 hours to follow up. I would recommend it to anyone.

    Be aware that some of the issues may come from the user, even though they purport to have done everything correctly.

    I drove for 7 days, did not use my 70 hours. However at the 8th day I did not get my hours back from the 1st day. I mean Samsara does not let me do recap, now I will have to sit and do my 34 before I can drive again. I hate it. By the way it doesn’t let me do a split neither.

    I have been on electronic logs for 5 years Qualcomm and also XRS. For a driver Samsara totally sucks. They show five stars on their site but our drivers are all of the same opinion, zero stars. After entering off duty it will jump back to driving status or on duty. Several times I entered off duty for breaks, set my alarm for a half hour, system read off duty, got up and it was showing me on duty. Driver interface sucks. Go with Qualcomm or XRS. 100 times better.

    I can’t imagine any other system being as bad as this,switches on duty while I’m on 10 hour break almost every night.sometimes switches to driving when truck is shut off and not moving. Samsara has been no help whatsoever. Absolutely the worst eld out there with no help from support.

    This is absolutely the worst ELD product available today. The bugs and or glitches are numerous but the worst is it changing to arbitrarily changing duty status while the truck is in motion. When you lose cell or wifi connection your access to your logs are severed and the duty status is changed again. When you call support they can’t fathom that there something with their program and then accused you of lying or attempting to cheat on your logbook. When under contract and you are not satisfied they will not accommodate you in any way. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SAMASARA. They are the worst!

    Went through a DOT audit and the officer tried to get some of my drivers logs sent to erods and all he got was an error message. I was given a violation for not being eld compliant.

    i hope they get there act together because i liked there product but can not use if it is not compliant.

    Operating a fleet of 30+ trucks. Any issues we have had were resolved very quickly. We had very few issues with them. Reporting for IFTA/or analysis is super simple. The people there are super friendly and helpful.
